Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone (DAZ)
The Peckham Digital Accelerator Zone (DAZ) has been one of UK Black Tech’s standout achievements in 2024. This programme provided free, high-quality training in AI, data, and web development for over 50 individuals, with a focus on empowering young people from diverse backgrounds. The programme saw remarkable engagement, with participants benefiting from technical skills development and networking opportunities. Additionally, UK Black Tech has provided ongoing, sustainable support for these individuals as they transition into the tech sector.

Growing and Engaging Our Community
Our social media presence has been a key driver for community engagement, amplifying the voices of Black and underrepresented technologists.
- LinkedIn has grown to over 8,000 followers, frequently seeing high interaction and engagement.
- Instagram has emerged as our fastest-growing platform, increasing to 3,719 followers, with many people seeking inspiration and resources to enter the tech industry.
- Twitter continues to be a steady source of engagement with 8,613 followers, contributing to discussions around tech and innovation. However, we plan to shift more attention to Bluesky this year.
Additionally, our email campaigns have achieved significant success, with MailChimp reaching 1,940 subscribers and a click-through rate of 45%.
Impact Through Speaking Engagements
In 2024, UK Black Tech had the privilege of representing diverse voices in the tech sector at various speaking engagements. These platforms provided an opportunity to spark important conversations around inclusion, digital skills, and innovation.

- Participation in the Go Cardless BHM panel, discussing the intersection of technology and Black history.
- Speaking at the Parliamentary Internet, Communications and Technology Forum in the House of Commons, where we highlighted how underrepresented groups can contribute to the future of tech.
- Engagements at high-profile events such as the Leeds Digital Careers Fair, the Digital Policy Alliance at the House of Lords, and Factory International in Manchester.
Events and Networking
Event organisation and participation have been vital in expanding our reach and reinforcing UK Black Tech’s presence in the industry. In 2024, we contributed to several significant events, including:
- BYP Health Event and GoCardless Black and Queer for Black History Month, which showcased diverse stories within the tech space.
- Our Christmas Social at Civo, which brought together over 100 community members to celebrate collective progress and network for future collaborations.
Expanding Our Network: Community and Partnerships
UK Black Tech’s influence continues to grow across the UK. In 2024, we launched new initiatives in Birmingham and Manchester, strengthening our partnerships that have been instrumental in this growth.

- Southwark Council and Hull City Council supported community-based tech initiatives.
- Our collaboration with Sony Music and Digital Catapult through the Black Founders Programme helped support emerging Black entrepreneurs.
In total, our partnerships and community support reached over 10,000 people across the UK.
Conferences and Media Partnerships
2024 saw UK Black Tech actively participating in major conferences, such as the Ai Summit, Tech London Show, and Cog X, where we contributed to discussions on the role of AI and innovation in tech.
Additionally, our media presence has helped raise awareness of our initiatives. We published 19 articles throughout the year, with the most popular being on how Artificial Intelligence is Changing the Future of Tech. These articles continue to generate conversation and spark interest in our work.
