StretchSense is on a quest to ensure everyone has the opportunity to play, create, socialise, collaborate, work, and connect in virtual worlds. Hands are the key to unlocking this. Our hand-tracking solution uses bespoke sensor technology combined with a machine-learning pipeline that is the best in the market. Our first product is a stretchable motion capture glove that accurately digitises finger movement to animate characters in movies, games, or drive metahumans in virtual worlds.

We are a funded company of 60+ employees with a software and commercial team in the UK.

Our HQ is in NZ, where we are proud to design, develop and manufacture our products, whilst we also have a commercial team in the USA.

StretchSense has a growing presence in Edinburgh. We started with one employee in 2021, and aim to have 7 employees by the end of 2022.

We have an office close to Waverley Train Station, and will be looking to maintain a location close to a public transport hub as we grow.

We are looking for a Full Stack Machine Learning Engineer who will be responsible for productionising our machine learning pipeline. This includes work on our data and machine learning pipeline, and is essential for our product and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Maintaining modern architecture and design practices;
Helping define the standards by which others should follow;
Quickly understanding requirements, owning and delivering solutions with autonomy and without any direction
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Building strong relationships and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders;
Required experience

PhD or Masters’s in a related area, e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, XR.
Experience productionising artificial intelligence methods/machine-learning proof of concept
Two years of experience with data structures or algorithms in an academic or industry setting.
Two years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Cuda), data analysis, computer vision and/or deep learning.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Proven experience in AWS or similar.
Desirable experience
